[-o< I would like to pre-view images of the various customisation effects before installing them. i.e. the before and after images.

I have some screen shots here which will give an idea - but unfortunately the Garmin xImage tool does not grab a true colour screen shot.

Freshmap screen shots from their web page:

NZ Topo for Garmin with Lighter Bush

NZ Topo for Garmin with "Even lighter / finer bush and scrub"

NZ Topo for Garmin with "Even lighter / finer bush and scrub" on night screen

NZ Topo for Garmin with "Lighter solid bush and scrub"

NZ Topo at West Arm, Lake Manapouri, with normal bush, normal buildings (as released v3.03) then on the right, small buildings

Hmm, the "as released" bush colour on the left looks a bit odd. The smaller buildings are an improvement.

 Thanks, but I want to see the "small building". :(

(I hate that MapSource one as it takes up far too much room, and is ugly as well.)

Great improvements Gary 8) 8) , the red lines for tracks are great, I used to find they would get lost amongst the contour lines.

I have chosen light solid bush which is just brilliant, it shows the bushedges, riverflats and clearings alot more clearly which is important for a hunter.

The small building thing has to be a winner as well, one thing that annoys me is the building symbols that show up when on the city/suburb maps. They are only houses and we all know they are there so why bother displaying them on the map. To me the building symbols should be buildings in remote places or important places.

I must head out hunting again and utilise the new improved features.

Cheers and keep up the good work :D

I have chosen the same for exactly the same reason. I have had a look around on the maps in places that I know. I often create a waypoint for bushline in places. It all looks pretty accurate to me. Certainly more than cosmetic

Hi all
I have the same topo lay out as the above samples.
So I take it that they are GT Maps.
When I bought the unit the maps were all installed by the retailer.
I have no info on down loading the maps from the 60 cxs to the computer can any one help out. Can it be done so I can view the complete card which is the NZ set NTH & STH ISL.
I have a cd ( Garmin Trip and way point manager )

Cheers

An easy way to check what maps you have is to go to the Map page > Menu > Setup Map > Toggle to the i icon > Menu. Scroll down to see the map products installed. If GT Maps you'll see NZ Topo.

Maps cannot be loaded from the card back to the computer - it's a 1 way process. Using MapSource and Uploading from Device will fetch the map tile numbers (there's 920 odd for all NZ) but not the actual graphics.

Gary's maps are not made in a NI or SI set, they are all NZ on the CD which is required (by the GPS owner) before loading to a card.
